i'm jordy rose - a designer and word-lover in the suburbs of chicago and i paint quirky, “cycle-breaking” signs for heart-forward strangers on the internet.

i have always had a quiet love of things that made spaces feel safe as a little girl who didn’t feel  “safe” in a lot of spaces.

the day i graduated college, a mentor told me i had the ability to take passing words or phrases and make them stay. Thus why “Word Stay” and the nature of these House Rules means so much to me.

* i restarted this business in september of 2025 in the hopes of gently pulling myself up out of ppd and bringing in a bit of extra $$ for my family (ex-corporate girl here).

* i posted my own house rules, painted on the floor of my kitchen 3 years ago, as a part of a series called “things in my home i’d 100% make again,” and thought maybe one person would be interested in creating their own sign filled with quirky, cycle breaking truths for their homes, their little ones and their “inner” little one.

*225 orders & a 1700 person reminders list later and i think i'm starting to understand why these signs resonate:

1. the world is buck wild right now and we are all looking for ways to make our spaces OURS and make them safe
2. we’re seeking equal parts humor / cycle-breaking truths in our homes and families (every one of my signs end in _____ OK to serve as that reminder)
3. sometimes we just need a little positive trigger hanging on our wall to bring us back home (internally and externally)
4. doesn’t hurt that each one is custom, hand-sketched and painted on heavy duty 300 LB paper in a world of fast, easy and Ai
